Our 2017 annual convention will be in San Diego CA and is being hosted with the support of the San Diego MG Club from Sunday June 25, 2017 to Wednesday June 28, 2017. We have a fantastic event in store for everyone and you’ll hopefully find all the information you need here and on the dedicated event website https://mg2017.namgbr.org.
Please use all of the event site to plan your MG 2017 adventure and don’t forget about ordering regalia in addition to your registration for the convention itself. There will be just a limited regalia supply available at the convention, so please pre-order if there’s something you specifically want.
Thanks in advance for your interest and support of MG 2017. We hope you will join us for this unique convention location. You can keep up with the latest information by also liking the event’s dedicated Facebook page. Click this link to visit it https://www.facebook.com/NAMGBRMG2017 or scroll further down this page to see a feed from the Facebook page right here.
Please note that the MG 2017 event is using a new website name structure, to be more closely tied with NAMGBR. So, please note that the event website is mg2017.namgbr.org and this will be the format for future events as well, each year the annual convention is a NAMGBR event rather than the all register events that take place every 5 years.
Want a place to chat and make plans with your fellow MG enthusiasts for MG 2017? Don’t do Facebook?
We have the perfect place and are partnering with The MG Experience to provide a dedicated forum for all things MG 2017. The MG Experience is a highly regarded online MG community and chances are you’re already signed up on the site. It’s probably already your virtual MG Club! If not, please head on over to the MG Experience site and set yourself up – it’s completely free (although there are additional membership levels available). You’ll then be set to take advantage of the MG 2017 forum and all the discussions, tech tips, reference materials and MG camaraderie the site provides.
This is not just a hotel it’s a full resort and spa, right on the ocean!
Check out the hotel’s website for details about the Spa options. Paradise Point offers five pools and Jacuzzis scattered around the 44-acre property, which is encircled by one mile of white sandy beach, perfect for sand castle building, sand volleyball, and other beach games like bocce ball and horseshoes. Mission Beach and Pacific Beach are also just a short drive away for guests looking to hit the waves. The hotel has a private, full-service marina, located adjacent to the Barefoot Bar & Grill. Here on the shimmering waters of San Diego’s Mission Bay, hotel guests can enjoy convenient access to SeaWorld alongside various aquatic activities such as sailing, jet skiing, motor boating and kayaking can be learned and enjoyed. See this link for information about the marina and water sports.
Room rates will be $184.00 plus taxes at this prime location, destination hotel. This rate includes the combined daily $62 Passport to Paradise fee providing use of internet, fitness center, basketball, tennis, ping pong, horseshoes, etc; and parking fees. The MG2017 rate is guaranteed to be lower than published rates and with the extra fees included in our event rate, this makes it very attractive for southern California given the location and facilities available.
To take a virtual tour of the hotel, please see the video below.

If any of you have some tips for long, group trips, please share.Today's Tip - We are going to have some long, hot days during the trip.Consider getting a small, battery powered oscillating fan. You can get these at parts stores, truck stops and even at stores like Wal-Mart or on Amazon. They can be mounted on your dash to give better airflow inside your car. " ... See MoreSee Less

2017 MG Coast-to-Coast AdventureAlthough this is not a NAMGBR organized event, our members Dick Lunney and PJ Lenihan are organizing a drive from the east coast to San Diego. If you’d like to join them the details of their plans are provided below and additional updates will be made as the plans get more firm and or finalized. If you would like more information about joining the Coast-to-Coast Adventure for all or part of it, please contact either Dick (704) 578-4616 or PJ (336) 462-1147.Put a tire in the Atlantic and a tire in Pacific at the beginning and end of a historic MG road trip of 8 days taking us across the southern United States to NAMGBR’s MG2017. Our tentative plans include using a southern route of secondary roads and some high speed interstates. Of course MG fans across the nation can join in anywhere. This plan has a couple short days for touring local sights. These short days also allow for catch up if anyone was delayed for unscheduled repairs. Our model is the Rally to Reno in 2011 but with a more southern/southwestern flair.More information can be found on the dedicated MG Coast-to-Coast Adventure page under the Events main menu. mg2017.namgbr.org/events/2017-mg-coast-coast-adventure/ ... I'm working on a cars and coffee type get together and lunch the day before we start on our drive to California. The spokesperson for the visitors center in Tybee island GA said she was pretty sure local car enthusiasts would turn up for a photo op at a boat ramp where we can touch a tire in the Atlantic ocean. Then some may wish to tour a bit in Savannah that afternoon. Also trying to find out about a chance to do a lap or two around the local racetrack.
lodging will be arranged soon. 3 different chains are working on, competing for, our business. I'm negotiating for 10-20 rooms to start maybe more as we progress across this great nation. One requirement is a walking distance eatery for those who are hot and tired and need a break from our LBCs. Return can be organized by someone else, as I'm staying on the west coast for a couple of weeks. Some may wish to ship cars home and return by plane.
Hotel info coming soon
Well sounds like a great idea but what tobringA or B
The NAMGAR event is happening a week earlier and they have a Route 66 tour heading from Chicago to Santa Barbara (Solvang) planned. Our adventure is timed to get participants to the NAMGBR MG2017 event in San Diego. However, we would welcome any model MG as well as any other car driven by MG enthusiasts who want to have fun.
We'd very much like to find a volunteer to drive a sweep vehicle maybe pulling an empty trailer and carrying tools parts etc
I expect to have details on lodging from Savannah to Tucson before Christmas, here is a top tip you should be able to "earn" a free night or two if you have a SPG or Marriott account. Marriott is currently offering a ton of free points if you get their credit card before the end of the year.
Hi, I've just made a reservation for NAMGBR MG2017. I'm driving from Arkansas in a RHD "factory" V8 that I've had for nearly 25 years but which has only recently been brought across to the US from the U.K. It's recently been rebuilt so this will be its first long distance run. I'd therefore appreciate traveling as part of the group. I'll probably join at Waco, TX and travel with the group to San Diego. Keep me a space! What other cars are in the group?
Gavin Bailey, Not all of the group is determined yet, but we expect a couple of V8s, I'll be driving a 3.4 V6. See you in Waco glad you'll be joining in our adventure.
Terry McClain with his MGBGT V8 is thinking about joining us and he lives in North Carolina.
Pj if there's more defined details and hotels chosen, please send me details so I can update the page. If you have this elsewhere that I can copy/paste from just let me know.
Hotel details nearly complete
We are using Marriott/SPG
